CUSTOM

You may already have a clear idea in mind of what you want, or you may just have a rough starting point. Either way, I work with clients to develop original jewelry that reflects their vision while staying true to my design style and approach to making.

Process

Initial consultation
We begin by talking through the design, materials, stones, budget, and overall scope of the project. Consultations can be done online or over the phone. This first step helps determine whether the project is a good fit for both of us.

Design development

If we decide to move forward into actual design work, a non-refundable design fee is required. This covers the time involved in concept development, sketches or renderings, revisions, and sourcing research. For most projects, the design fee starts at $100, though more complex projects may require a higher fee. If the project goes ahead, the fee will be applied toward the final cost of the piece.

Final design and quote
Once the design, metals, and stones have been decided on, I can provide a final quote and the project can move into production. Due to fluctuations in precious metals prices, quotes are valid for  14 days. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to begin production, with the remaining balance due before delivery.

Timeline

Most custom projects take about 4 weeks after receiving the deposit, though a more exact timeframe will be given once the details of the project are finalized.

Additional Information

I take on a limited number of custom commissions and reserve the right to decline projects that are not the right fit for my style, methods, or schedule. I do not copy other designers’ work. My focus is on creating original pieces of my own design or developed collaboratively with the client.

The design fee covers design time and development only. It does not include delivery or transfer of sketches, renderings, CAD files, or rights to manufacture the design. All designs remain the intellectual property of Jon Ryan Jewelry unless otherwise agreed in writing.
